Frequently Asked Questions

What is the benefit of coming to therapy?

Therapy can have a variety of benefits. While doing suicide prevention work, I found most clients felt better after spending some time just talking about their problem. A non-bias, confidential professional can be a good sounding board to help highlight and encourage good self-care while pointing out inaccurate, illogical or disoriented thinking patterns. Assistance with setting goals and objectives could be a benefit; as well, learning about mental health and treatment planning.

How often will we meet for sessions?

We will discuss how often we would meet in our first meeting. Generally, I like to provide time (at least two weeks) between sessions for clients to work on some things in their home, work, and or recreational environments. I am not a big fan of meeting every week; however, in some situations weekly sessions may be appropriate.

Do you have a specialty?

When I was an intern, one of my supervisors told me an LCSW should be able to treat whoever walks through the door. So I spent time learning in different settings and co- facilitating a variety of groups: Suicide Prevention, Substance Dependence, Emergency Room Services, Transition Aged Youth in Foster Care, Individual Adult Therapy, Child & Family Therapy, Depression Group, Panic Group, Social Skills Group for Adolescence, Middle School Boys Group, High School Boys Group, and Teen Intensive Outpatient (IOP) group.

I am most comfortable working with middle & high school youth and young adults teaching coping skills related to anxiety and depression, and working with individuals who have substance dependence issues.

How much do you charge?

I offer a no charge 30 minute phone consultation to ask questions and assess fit. Then, $150 per 50-minute initial session and $75 per 30-minute telephone session. I offer session packages for return appointments (an example: 4 sessions for $500).  I use a HIPPA Compliant application - IVY Pay to accept card payments. Virtual appointments available as well. Also, I offer a Scholar Athlete Team service for student athletes; please inquire for cost and packages.

Do you accept private insurance?

Not at this time.

What are your other interests?

I enjoy coaching youth sports in my spare time: Baseball, basketball, and football. Also, playing sports, watching sports, and listening to sports debate shows is something I enjoy. Spending quality time with my wife, my family and friends is something I do for self-care: bowling, movies, dinner dates, traveling, I can go on and on. I like to be active. Lastly, creating art via music patterns/ beats on a keyboard, painting, and writing are just some of the many things I do for fun in my spare time.
